Just wanted to share
Today was the most consequential election that Republic of Türkiye ever had since it was founded in 1923 (same year my mom was born).
I am very proud of Meysun. She is part of a national NGO to monitor elections to ensure fairness and catch irregularities. She had been preparing for this day for weeks while also volunteering to help earthquake victims.
Today she reported to her post at 6am.
She was in charge of a building with 11 polling stations, where each station has an observer. Then her counterpart in the next building did not report. So she took over that role too plus another 12 polling stations.
She was the bridge/coordinator between observers, electors, an army of lawyers, govt officials, and election officials to detect and respond to correct irregularties.
Sadly I could not help her. I just cast my vote and had to dog sit Zeus.
While most sat back and complain about govt, she worked hard for the continuity of democracy. I am proud of her and we are lucky to have people like her.
